basically in today's era you have to have at least a b.a to teach elementary education and sometimes they want you to go beyond a b.a.

Answer"No Child Left Behind" requires a BA and certification in the specialized field in order to teach in a public school classroom. That leaves private schools and daycares. Elementary Education is a highly competitive area for teachers so I wouldn't expect much opportunity in most private schools, but you may find an "outreach" type of school that could give you an opportunity. These schools serve the students with more behavioral/emotional problems.

One job would be to substitute teach. To teach within the public school system in the United States at the pre-K through high school levels, you must have a bachelor's degree in a teacher education program from a regionally accredited college or university and state teacher certification. This would take approximately four years as a full-time student, provided you take the program as prescribed by the college or university.
