Use a pesticide "bomb" in the house to kill them. Then buy outdoor pesticides to spray around the houses windows, doors, and foundation to keep them from returning.

I use an item you can buy at Lowes or Home Depot. It's really a mouse trap, it has this really sticky substance on it and when something walks on it, it sticks to it. I don't have mice but I do have a lot of Spiders and this thing works great for trapping spiders plus other insects. Just place them around the house, garage etc. and let it do the work. No smelly or unsafe chemicals either.

Buy some clove oil. Sprinkle it under doors, smear around windows. Spiders hate the smell and won't come in. The only downside is your house smells a little bit like a dentist's surgery.

House: Make sure to clean your house every week; don't let food lay around.

Windows: Spiders loves to hang out on window sills. Make sure you keep your windows shut and clean them. If there are spider webs or eggs on the windowsill, spray them with water and suck them up with a vacuum cleaner.

User Suggestions:
  • Spray chestnut oil in cracks and crevices around windows and doors (insects can get stuck).
  • This will work but you might prefer to get someone else to do this for you: grind dead spiders into bits and sprinkle them in cracks and crevices around windows and doors.
  • One method that actually seems to work (or at the very least, greatly reduces spiders in the house) is to hang osage Oranges (also known as hedge apples) in onion bags around the house (especially near areas where spiders tend to congregate).

Some might get in at first through cracks in the walls, or any other tiny spaces, then they mate and lay eggs in more tiny places, and before you know it, there are heaps and heaps of the little creepy crawlies and you have no idea where they came from! (until you read this. now you know where they come from)

Find out how they're getting in and then try to seal up the hole, entrance, etc if possible or if they get get in through things like a door or window, try not to leave them open to long when using them and watch the walls sides of it to see if you see anything come in while in use or open.

suck them up with a vacuum and leave the vacuum running for three minutes to make sure its dead. If you step on a mother spider about 1000 little baby spiders will burst out and be more of a problem then moms was, the vacuum it the most effective method along with house hold but sprays but the can have very toxic fumes to be careful

Well if it is just one spider, trap it and let it go outside, or smush it. If it is an infestation, then I would recommend calling your local exterminator. Or for a cheap way out smush them as you see them. Tht is a lot of work though.
