For school uniform, a white shirt tucked into black or brown shorts with suspenders worn quite snugly and normally shorts and suspenders over a suit if they were posh but otherwise just a shirt with a pullover. I dont know why they wore their shorts so high it just must've been in fashion.
Clothes were rationed and could only be bought with clothing coupons. Old clothes were mended, recycled and handed down from adults to older children, older children to younger children. Many garments were home-knitted and could therefore be unpicked and knitted again into a different pattern.

Children weren't evaculated during WW1 - there was no systematic aerial bombing so the civilian population wasn't so threatened as during WW2.
