What kind of license would you need to be a water well drilling company? |
[Edit] |
Answer
Water well drillers are licensed by the state here in Maine, and also in Minnesota. Those are the only states I know about. Check with your state's department of professional licensing, which also handles things like doctors, engineers, electricians. In Maine there is a period of apprenticeship under a licensed driller, followed by a test. Don't know if licenses can be transferred across state lines.
People in Maine can drill their own wells. Also, I know of one person who drills wells for people who has a retired master driller sign off on his papers. This is probably illegal.
