What kind of weapons do combat medics carry?

[Edit]
The answer to this question depends on several things. First what nation is the medic from? Second is he in combat; and if so is where is he?

Assuming he is American, deployed in a hostile enviornment somewhere overseas like Iraq or Afghanistan, he will likely carry a M-9 9mm pistol, or and M-16/4 rifle. However remember, a medic's job is heal, not to kill. A medics weapon is supposed to be for self defense only; per the geneva convention if medical personnel take a offensive posture they loose their protective status.

- I am a Army Medic, when I was in the Infantry I was issues a Berretta M-9 9mm pistol; we where also assigned the standard M-16 rifles however we where not in a combat zone and chose to only carry the M-9s.
