The Japanese Navy utilized one the most important weapons of the Pacific Theater. The aircraft carrier group. The Japanese Aircraft Carrier group used a storm to hide their approach. When it was within aircraft range it launched torpedo planes and fighters. A couple of mini subs were also credited with participating in the attack, but it's often overlooked.
Aircraft Carriers carrying Mitsubishi A6M ZEKE ZERO fighters and Nakagima Dive Bombers Carring 500g Bombs or DEEP Torpedoes.
Japanesse always used mini submarines with where a failure because there where sunk and captured by a Pearl Harbor Patrol entering the Ford Island.
One of the most effective weapons used was the torpedo that was fitted with wooden fins that kept it from going to deep when it entered the water Pearl harbor was only 40 feet deep and thought to shallow for torpedoe's to be used.
Anything that they could get their hands on. From rocks, pistols, anti-aircraft weapons.. airplanes. One of the Japanese pilots saw a marine standing in the middle of the tarmac shooting his pistol - of course a pistol was ineffective considering the circumstances but our Marine felt better. Lt. Welch and Lt. Taylor did manage to get into their planes and shoot down 6 or 7 Japanese planes as well.
the only weapons used on the attack of pearl harbor were mounted on the Japanese zeros (the standard Japanese fighter plane during the war) which consited of 45mm machine guns, torpedos, and c4 explosives which were placed in the planes that were expected to kamakazi the harbor
The japenese used poison gases, suffocating gas, mustard gas, tear gas, and asphyxiating gas. Some of these gases were so deadly that the Japanese who worked with the poisons were killed or seriously hurt (Cook 200). The Japanese also used tank barricades, rockets, and grenades. The two main types of planes that Japan used were the standard fighter plane and bomber (Hoyt 394). The Japanese also constructed a "secret" weapon, which was carried on the wind (Time Life Books 185). These weapons were balloons that could carry explosives. The Japanese planned for these bombs to reach parts of North America. Out of the 9,300 balloons that were launched, only a couple hundred made it to the United States or Canada with minimal effect (Cook 187). The Japanese also had another weapon. The Japanese government regarded life as nothing, so Japanese officials could send the troops into battle knowing that the soldiers would not come back(Ienaga 151). Special Japanese fighter pilots would fly planes at United States ships and drop bombs, which the planes carried. After the bombs were dropped, the pilots were instructed to fly into the ship (Time Life Books 140). Unfortunately for the kamikaze pilots, the ships were rarely hit. The pilots had a chance to bail out of the planes before making a death run, but if a pilot jumped out, the pilot would be lost in the Pacific Ocean probably never to be found again. Even though Japan's kamikazes rarely hit a target, the attacks led by Japan caused much devastation (Cook 317). Japan used some of these weapons to attack Pearl Harbor.
