Meteors start to glow in the Mesosphere, and usually burn out in the upper Stratosphere. Put another way, when you first see a meteor, it is about 80 miles up, and when it "goes out" it is about 40 miles up.

The third layer of the earths atmosphere?

The third layer of the earth's atmosphere is the Mesosphere, where meteors can be found.

What is the layer that protect us from meteors and ultra violet rays f rom the sun?

The Ozone layer in the upper Atmosphere protects the Earth from over exposure to UV. The entire Atmosphere protects the Earth from meteors by creating FRICTION on high speed objects entering from outer space. The heat of the Friction burns up meteors. These two protective devices are two different mechanisms.

What layer of the atmosphere to meteors burn up in?

Meteors burn up in the high atmosphere. If they land on Earth, they become meteorites.

What layer of the atmosphere are Meteors in?

In the mesosphere

What layer of the atmosphere meteors in?

In the mesosphere

What layer of the atmosphere do meteors travel through?

All of them.

What layer in the atmosphere do meteors come from?

Meteors come from outer space and crash into our atmosphere which burns them. That's what a shooting star is.

What layer of the atmosphere protects Earth's surface from being hit by asteroids?

The entire atmosphere will burn up small asteroids (meteors), but larger ones will strike the Earth. This is how the Caribbean Sea was created.

What are the four main layer of the atmosphere in order?

The four main layers of the atmosphere in order from closest to the Earth's surface to farthest are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere, and thermosphere. The troposphere is where weather occurs and is closest to the Earth's surface. The stratosphere contains the ozone layer and has a stable temperature. The mesosphere is the layer where meteors burn up upon entering. The thermosphere is the outermost layer and contains the ionosphere where auroras are formed.

The hottest layer in the atmosphere is the?

The hottest layer is the mesosphere that is why meteors and asteroids burn in this layer .

Most meteors burn up in which layer of the atmosphere even though it's the coldest layer?

mesophere

How would the atmosphere protect people?

There are many ways in which the atmosphere protects us. The troposphere is the layer of the atmosphere we live in. It contains weather. The stratosphere contains the Ozone Layer. This layer protects us from UV rays The mesosphere has low temperatures and burns meteors. This stops objects in space that can harm the earth.
