In most states an 18 year old is considered an adult with all the responsibilities of a citizen. Alcohol purchases are restricted in most states until 21.

Alabama, and Nebraska is 19. Louisiana is 17. Missippi is 21

Alabama does not grant the "age of majority" until you are 19,

BUT you may petition for emancipation at 18.

Minors 15 and older can contract for insurance.

Minors 14 and older may sue, but must do so only through the use of a specified adult.
