we have been in banana trade for the last decade. to answer your question sunlight has nothing much to do in ripening of bananas as in their growing. With temperature rise due to sunlight ripening could be faster if the bananas are mature enough. yes undue sunlight on banana ripening will cause blackening of peel (due to heat).

i hope the anwer helps

The bananas produce ethylene, which is the natural ripening agent of the fruit.

Ethylene is the chemical compound with the formula C2H4. It is the simplest alkene. Because it contains a double bond, ethylene is called an unsaturated hydrocarbon or an olefin. It is extremely important in industry and even has a role in Biology as a hormone. Ethylene is the most produced organic compound in the world; global production of ethylene exceeded 75 million metric tonnes per year in 2005.

I think that humidity affects the ripening of a banana because if u leave it outside on a hot day it gets all mushy and if u leave it outside on a cold day it just gets really cold and if u put it outside in the winter it can freeze.

Bananas produce ethylene, a gaseous phytohormone that promotes ripening. There are several other types of fruit that do this -- apple and mango are two examples.

All fruit produce ethylene gas in order to ripen, so by keeping your apples and bananas together in the open you are speeding up the ripening process. Bananas ripen faster than apples, which is why they spoil first.
