Best Answer

An airplane is able to fly because of the shape of the wing. The wing is flat on the bottom with a hump on the top. Thus, it takes air longer to get over the top than it does to get under the wing. This creates an area of high pressure below the wing, known as lift. The more lift, the higher the plane goes. The air going over the wing moves faster than the air below it. Faster moving fluids have less pressure than their surroundings. So the air below the wing has more pressure than the air above the wing, which produces lift. An example of moving fluids is a chiminey. The air moving across the top of it has less pressure, which sucks the smoke out of the chiminey rather than into your home. Another example would be putting the curved part of a spoon against running water. The spoon moves towards the water.
