Hey... why do u need metal used in computers.... Computers need no metal... It's building blocks are the semiconductor devices like Microprocessors, I/O interface ICs, Interrupt ICs and so on... But yet if you want to know the metal used in desktop... I can help u... They are simply the iron.... try them with your magnet... They get well attracted..... This metal is for casing your desktop.... Needless to say,, the casing can be of anything dude!

Gold - it's used as the internal wiring in micro-chips. However - there's not enough gold in computer chips to make it worthwhile dismantling the chips to get at the metal ! We're talking about micro-grammes !

The case itself will use some steel (iron alloy) and perhaps aluminum. The solder on the circuit boards will be a mixture of tin and lead (usually 60% tin and 40% lead), and sometimes silver is added to solder for specific applications. Gadolinium is used as green phosphors in CRT monitors and CDs, and sometimes in nonvolatile memory (bubble memory).

  • iron - case, brackets, screws, and the hard drive.

  • mercury - lighting and monitors (perhaps both LCD and CRT)
  • nickel - batteries, magnets, could be some in the case
  • silicon - semiconductor in chips
  • silver - soldering or contacts
  • tantalum - capacitors
  • tin - soldering, Li-ion batteries
  • zinc - screws
