Kittens and cats are strict carnivores. They get all their nutritional needs from meat. Kittens in particular, need a lot of Protein and Fat in order to grow and develop in a healthy manner. Kittens should be fed small meals at regular times, and should be allowed to eat as much as they wish. Young kittens should be fed four to six meals a day, while older kittens (around 6-9 months) will be able to eat larger portions three to four times a day. Don't be surprised if you are feeding your kitten much more than you would an adult cat, this is normal and growing kittens need all the nutrients they can get.

Due to the amount of food kittens can eat, it makes sense to feed a good quality cat food. The higher the meat content, the better. The best cat foods are the ones with a very high, named-meat content. They should be labelled by source, such as: Chicken, Turkey, Rabbit, Lamb, Tuna, etc., as the first, or first two ingredients. Generally speaking, kittens will become fuller much quicker on higher quality foods, and will eat less than if on lower quality foods.

It is advisable to stay away from brands that include Corn, Wheat, Cereals, Gluten and Soy in their foods - kittens and cats have difficulty in digesting these and can cause upset stomachs (diarrhea can quickly become fatal to kittens as they dehydrate easily), and do not provide any nutritional value to the kitten whatsoever. Wet food with these specifications are much easier to find than in dry food.

Moisture is very important to cats and kittens alike. While fresh water should always be available (cow's milk should never be given as this can often cause upset stomachs), the easiest way in getting water into kittens and cats is to provide wet food as the majority of their diet. Felines have evolved to get all their needed moisture from their prey (their ancestors were cats that lived in very dry and arid environments where water was hard to come by), so therefore have a low "thirst drive" and will not often seek out water on their own.

Canned or pouched food has anywhere between 60 to 80% water. Seeing as in the wild a cat's prey is around 65%-75% water, wet food provides a cat or kitten with more than enough water each day.

kittens need to have a constant supply of fresh water. for a treat, give them milk Yes. The above is true; however, cow's milk may cause a problem resulting in diarrhea. If this occurs, discontinue use of milk. In fact, some veteranians recommend an ample supply of fresh water only.

Kittens drink milk from there until they are a certain age and usually you give them water to drink because as they get older milk is a meal for them not just a drink. so if you give them milk, give it to them rarely and as a treat. water is best for kittens.

Depending on the age, all kittens regardless of gender will drink the same thing. Up to four to five weeks, kittens will solely drink the milk provided by their mothers. Once the kittens are weaned, they can drink water and specially-formulated kitten milk.

When the kittens are first born, they will instinctively drink milk from there mother. When they are through that stage they will be able to eat whole food. They can still drink milk, just not from their mother. I recommend whole milk if you want to give them a little treat. Your cat still needs water though, milk is not a replacement. I hope you enjoy your new kitten as much as I have mine. May your friendship last forever.

Their mothers milk until they are old enough to drink other things.

Young kittens whom have not yet been weaned, drink nothing but their mother's milk. Once the kittens are fully weaned, they can start to be given water. Kitten milk can be given once in a while as a treat.

Newborn to 8 weeks, kittens only suckle from the mom. Around 6-8 weeks, babies can have dry food completely mashed up with plenty of water. Let them lap up the fluid and eat. Mom will teach them to lap from a bowl of water, but some kitties need a gentle hand to push their nose into the food/water... when they lick it off, they catch on that "this is good" and search for more. Or put a bit of MASH on your pinkie finger and put it in their mouth--watch the teeth (ouch!). Put plenty of newspapers down-- kittens are very messy at first. DO NOT GIVE A BOWL OF HUMAN MILK! Human milk causes the runs in cats and kittens. Instead, buy a can of cat-safe "milk" from the Pet Food store--but only give small amount as a TREAT only. Cats and kittens do not need milk. They need dry food and fresh water. Kittens will need to transition from wet mash to dry kitten food, then to adult dry cat food.

So, for three kittens, there is 2^3 possible combinations, only one of which is all female. So, the probability of all three kittens being female is 1:8.
