Answer
A person should not chemically slow his heart, or use anything effecting the driving of the heart, with the exception of certain medical emergencies, such as with poisonings, or heart attacks. Drugs and compounds that directly alter the heart are always inherently dangerous, but are sometimes critical in life risking situations. There are many reasons why a pulse might be elevated; and with the exception of exercise, they are all bad. An elevated heart rate is a warning that there is a serious medical issue; usually involving a lack of oxygen, major infection, damage to the heart itself, or issues with blood pressure regulation. If the problem is just a minor pulse elevation, then I would highly recommend seeing a holistic doctor first, because their medicine is generally much safer, and tends to address the root problems of a condition -- not just the symptoms. However, if the problem is severe, then you should immediately get medical attention from a standard doctor, because they do emergency medicine best.
Magnesium is wonderful for the heart, and calms it down. I use the citrate form, 200 mg. Try it before bed and it can also help you sleep.
