Well, I didn't have much knowledge of air conditioning when I decide to retrofit my '91 4runner. I asked the guy at the auto parts store and he recommended a kit and gave me some advice. I went home, read the instructions (they were very easy) and had my system retrofitted/recharged in less than 10 minutes. I didn't drain any oil or replace any gaskets. It is working very well and I have had no trouble with it at all. I did not even realize all the stuff that some people do to their a/c until I read the answers on this site. Basic procedure : First evacuate the system of all R-12 Freon. Remove the compressor and drain all the oil out (R134 uses different types of oil). Go to your local parts store and purchase a retro fit kit (it should have o-rings, fitting adapters, oil and R134a). Be sure to also purchase a new Accumulator (receiver/dryer). Be sure to have a vacuum pump to get any moisture out of the system before you add the R134a. I would also go to your local library for a book to help you with the process.

How to replace air conditioner hose ford excort?

This is something that needs to be done by a professional, because the a/c system needs to have the freon removed prior to taking the lines loose. They can remove the freon and store it while the hose is being replaced and then put the same freon back in.

How do you replace the ac condenser on a FJ80 Land Cruiser?

The freon needs to be removed from the system and the pressure released. The condenser can then be removed and replaced, along with new o rings. Then the system needs a vacuum pulled and the new freon can be put in.

How do you replace the ac evaporator on a 1995 blazer 4.3 vortex cpi 4x4?

The system needs to have the Freon reclaimed. With the Freon gone and pressure out of the unit, unscrew the ac lines from the evaporator, replacing the o rings as well. The system will have to have a vacuum pulled before Freon is added.

Freon for a 92 Mercury Sable?

The only freon available is R134a. Your car most like came with R12. That means it will have to have the system evacuated at a shop, and then be converted to the R134a. Look at the fittings where the freon is to be introduced to the system....if they are screw on, then your car needs to be changed over to the newer refrigerant....if they are quick connects, you simply need to add R134a.
