If there is an ice tray then that would be the coldest, other than that the bottom would be colder though it would take a sensitive thermometer to measure the difference.

If the freezer is on top the upper shelf should be. If the freezer is on the bottom the bottom shelf should.

The coldest temperature settinf for the freezer is Coldest. That is what my freezer says. All refrigerators have freezers with a Coldest setting.
