try looking on the engine manifold to see if it says firing order....135246. If it says this like this.... 1 3 5 2 4 6 then the number one cylinder is on the passenger side of the engine 1st one in front then behind that one is 3 and then 5 and starting from the drivers's side front of the engine it's 2 then 4 then 6. ON the distributor cap, you need to know which one is number one to begin with. If you haven't removed the cap, and the engine is in the firing order of 135246, then bump the engine with the number 1 spark plug removed and with your finger, feel the air come up with the cylinder at the top and stop the engine there when it reaches what is called Top Dead Center, that is when the cylinder pushes to the top of the engine and is ready to fire the plug. Then remove the dist. cap and see which on the rotor is pointing towards on the cap and that one is the number 1 plug wire. Then in the oder around the cap its the same as the numbers in the order 135246. IF YOU DONT' GET ALL THIS, GET A CHILTONS MANUAL FROM THE LOCAL LIBRARY AND LOOK IT UP FOR YOUR VEHICLE, IT WILL SHOW YOU PICTURES OF WHAT I AM SAYING. YOU CAN ZEROX THE INFORMATION FROM THE BOOK AND JUST TAKE IT WITH YOU TO DO IT. THAT'S THE EASIEST WAY.
