Many people are coming to the understanding that a there is a false left-right paradigm making the USA work as a two party state, where the difference between the two parties is so minimal they might as well be just one party.

This strategy is outlined in Carrol Quigley's "Tragedy and hope". In this strategy it does not matter whether you vote democrat or republican the general overall policy of the elite and the military industrial complex is continued.

Because Dr Ron Paul is anti establishment and not part of this system, his ideas become attractive to democrats who realize the above stated reality.

Its hard to give a percentage, but i have a feeling that democrat support of Dr Paul it is at the very least 15%

Are democrats leftist?

Most are, but then if you include the Libertarians in the Republican Party, particularly Ron Paul and his supporters you would have to say the same thing about them. "Leftist" and "Rightist" are not instructive terms if you are going to think deeply about American politics. In the larger universe, democrats are leftists and monarchists are rightist. But you wouldn't call Republicans monarchists. As believers in a democratic society Republicans are leftists too. When you zoom down from the larger universe and get down to say, the block you live on, and take all those people and put them in a room you could survey them and find out who belongs on the right and who belongs on the left, but they could all still be Democrats or they could all be Republicans. Republicans don't want to be called monarchists and they don't want to be called leftists and they don't want to be called moderates either. So it is probably best just to call them Democrats and Republicans and look deeper into their published policies and goals for insights on what they stand for.

Did ron paul start the tea party?

Yes. (in a way) Ron Paul started the tea party. But it was really a grass roots movement with which Ron Pauls 2008 presidential campaign had nothing to do with. It was a spontaneous up-swell of support of Dr Paul which culminated in the Moneybomb which set historical all time records in fund raising!!! But the "tea party" was quickly hijacked by fox news, Sarah Palin and other "false conservatives". I'm unsure if you could relate the average tea party voter with Ron Paul anymore. If you want to know what started the tea party and what it stood for in the beginning, watch any Ron Paul Speech. He is truly amazing
