Around 20% is considered low. 30% to 40%, whilst on the dry side, are tolerable. 50% is comfortable, though that percentage can feel quite humid when the temps are high.

Is 66 percent low humidity or high?

It's considered high humidity, and anything above 50%.

Is 60 high humidity?

It depends on what you mean. A dew point of 60 degrees Fahrenheit would be considered moderate to high humidity. A relative humidity of 60% would usually be considered low at low temperatures and high at high temperatures.

What set of conditions produce the driest air?

Dry air is caused by low humidity. When relative humidity drops to 40% the air will feel dry to the skin. Water vapor in the air also depends on the dewpoint of the air. When there is low vapor there is a fixed percentage by volume or mass of oxygen, nitrogen, and argon.

What is the percentage of humidity?

The short answer is the maximum percentage of humidity in the air at any temperature is 100%. The percentage of humidity or relative humidity of air is the percent of the maximum humidity or amount of water that the air can hold at any given temperature. Therefore if the relative humidity is 80 per cent at 20 degrees and then the air cools off to 18 degrees the relative humidity goes up even though the amount of humidity or water in the air stays the same. If the temperature continues to drop the relative humidity will continue to rise. Since cool air can hold less air than warm air the relative humidity will eventually reach 100%. If the temperature continues to fall the relative humidity will remain at 100% and water will come out of the air as precipitation.

Why is cold polar air described as dry when the relative humidity of that air is very high?

The polar air has a high relative humidity due to the temperature of the polar region being close to the dew point temperature. The closer the dew point temperature is to the surrounding temperature, the higher is the relative humidity. The air in the polar region is considered dry as the dew point temperature is low. Low dew point indicates low water vapor content. So since the dew point in the north pole is low, it has a low water vapor content in the air, resulting in it being dry.

What are humidity measurements based upon?

Air humidity measurements are based on the water content of the air, expressed as volume percentage: Relative Humidity = percentage of saturation at a given temperature Absolute Humidity = percentage of water in the air, regardless of saturation or temperature. The humidity that is talked about in weather reports, is relative humidity.
