High concentrations of salt is toxic to almost all terrestrial plants and basically poisons the earth to which it is applied for an indefinite period of time. The application of salt to soil is destructive to the environment.

The most common Herbicides are salt based Glyphosate products.

When fire fighting airplanes and helicopters use salt water it can do huge amounts damage to the forest.

I've also seen rookie firies use foam on a control burn. It turned to concrete. But the grass trees still grew through it =] .
