5. Conserving valuable nutrients while excreting organic waste products, mainly nitrogenous wastes such as urea and uric acid.
6. Assisting the liver in detoxifying poisons.

∙ 13y agoThe kidney. Erythropoietin is produced continuously, in order to stimulate the formation of new red blood cells. Under conditions of anemia or blood loss (as two examples), erythropoietin levels will rise.
