What reasons not to hire in us?

With the economy the way it is this is a market for employers.

With one job opening right now there could be a 1000 application an employer receives.

That employer may only look through 50-100 of those applications and hold back the rest for later, and hire the one he wants from the 50-100 applications.

That is usually the way it works.

But reasons for not hiring you? Depends on the state too. There are many states that have what is called "Right To Work State"

In other words the Employer can fire you for any reasons and can hire you for any reasons and by same token NOT hire you for any reasons.

If you have on extreme jewelery in your face and hair that is punked and green, tattoos all over your body, wear ripped up jeans to the interview or a ripped up shirt or a shirt that has got derogatory sayings all over it, any of these reasons I will guarantee if the position is for an office position or front desk you are not going to be the first candidate dressed this way, regardless of your experiences and/or skills.

Also if you are older, and I mean in your 40's and above and you have excess weight on you, or you are obese in weight, there is a good chance you will not get hired if you are going to represent the company in the public's eyes.

And I know that sounds prejudice and it is! I totally agree, it is. But with the right to work states and the economy being it is an employer market, the job market is open to employers tremendously in favor for employers not those looking for work.

Also an employer does not have to give you any reasons what so ever for firing or NOT hiring you either in right to work states, which Maine is one of those states.

Also if I remember right so is California and Utah.

As excessive absences is also another reason they will fire you as well. By excessive more then 3 absences in a month at times, some places in your entire career with them.
