Actually, the brain is a part of the nervous system.

The Brain and the Spinal Cord are the two components of the Central Nervous System, while everything else makes up the Peripheral Nervous System. The Peripheral Nervous System is further divided into the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Divisions of the Autonomic Nervous System.
