Is Avenged Sevenfold a Christian or secular band?

Although they have not confirmed that they are Christian, it is possible.

They do sing about murder, rape, suicide, homicide, drug and alcohol use, which make Christians believe that A7X is not a Christian band. Because, of course, murder, rape, suicide, etc. are not Christian topics.

Christians also believe that A7X's song God Hates Us is insulting God, which is true, but it's just not the whole truth. The lead singer of A7X, M. Shadows, was angry at God when he wrote the song, regarding Jimmy's death.

Others songs, such as Dear God and Warmness On The Soul are more Christian-ish songs. The songs Chapter Four and Beast and the Harlot are also Christin based songs. Chapter Four is based on the fourth chapter of Genesis (Cain and Abel), and the Beast and the Harlot is based off of the book of Revelations. Also, these songs are based off of The Bible as well:

Nightmare- about someone being left behind in the rapture

Wicked end- The rapture

Afterlife - a man sees his place in hell, then a glimpse of heaven

Their band name, Avenged Sevenfold, is also from the bible.

And here's another fact, most of the members are from a Christian background. Jimmy "The Rev." was raised Catholic, as was M. Shadows, Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates. Arin Ilejay (their new drummer after Jimmy's death) was raised (and still is) a Christian. His mom is a gospel singer.

They are, as Syn Gates stated, not tagged as a "Christian band", but they were raised Christians.

So basically, if it comes down to them being Christian, Atheist, or Satanic, it's most likely Christian. But as I stated above, they have not confirmed being Christian.
