Most places in the US can't hire a 14 year old for this type of work. Child labor laws are designed to protect young people from hazards such as sharp objects, mechanical cut/crush dangers from equipment, steam outlets and scalding water. There MAY be some restaurants that would let a 14-year-old work part time doing sweeping/vacuuming, cleaning windows, etc.
It actually depends on where you live, check an see if your state even allows 14 year olds to work, and if it does, you could probably bus tables at Village Inn or Dennys or somewhere like that. But most places, even if its legal in that state for 14 year olds to work still have an age requirement, which most of the time is 16.
almost none would as due to labor laws all you would be allowed to work is the cash register/drive thru window
why? safety regs to prevent injuries from the fryers ovens grills even the dishwashing machines
but with 20 yrs exp in restaurants you could probably get a job as a busboy in a mom and pop place who would overlook the age issue
forget any chain restaurants as their lawyers would freak out
To the last person who answered this...it isn't illegal. Get your facts straight. Many of the retail stores say they will only hire 16+ but if you talk to the manager in person they might hire you.
