Darwin Understood the Social Application Evolutionists constantly try to disavow the logical link between Darwinism and social Darwinism, but no matter how they try to divorce themselves from it, even Darwin himself understood that this logical conclusion followed because humans are part of the natural order. Below are a couple of quotes from Darwin, alongside one each by Nietzsche and Hitler. Chilling, isn't it? While it is often a cheap trick to compare one's ideological opponents to Hitler, in this case, made well in the recent book From Darwin to Hitler, the shoe fits perfectly. I could show fight on natural selection having done and doing more for the progress of civilization than you seem inclined to admit. Remember what risk the nations of Europe ran, not so many centuries ago, of being overwhelmed by the Turk, and how ridiculous such an idea now is! I'm not sure how much store to place on racism beyond the extreme case of Hitler describing the Jews as a sub-human race (untermench). Darwin would have been horrified at the Nazis' inhumanity and absurdity, and at others using his work as some sort of excuse for it, but I quote you own sentence and let others consider its implications. Although you may only be approximating a quote you give below it, you wrote as if agreeing with its 19C sentiments, but not quite as you probably meant:
