I'd say from behind is the best, I know I wouldn't be able to handle being on top. And the only reason you shouldn't be able to have sex the entire time is if you are at risk for preterm labor because semen can stimulate contractions and soften the cervix. Which in the end can be good to help move things along. But when you do loose your mucus plug, if at all, then you should stop.
