See the related question for a brief overview. The main thing to consider is how to inspect what you are replacing. Here are some tips... Are the old pads worn evenly...inner pad to outer pad, and left to right. If not, it could indicate a problem in other components. Binding caliper slide pins or pistons, for example. When pushing the piston back in, a C-clamp pushing on the old pad, pushing on the piston, works well. Loosen the bleeder, however, as forcing fluid behind that piston could damage the ABS module. Inspect the piston for damage...pitting, scoring, rust, etc. before pushing it in. If not, you may damage the interior seal...causing leaks or stuck pistons. Apply high temperature silicone grease to the sliding pins and surfaces of the caliper and it's mount. A light coat on the BACKING of the pads works well to help keep them quiet. IF the brakes were "pulsating" before, have the rotors machined to restore their "true". Have a good shop manual handy, and review the procedure for relining and bleeding before you start. IF it's your first time, have someone who's done it help you out. It's not hard...but this is critical to your safety and needs to be done right. I've also included some resources in the links section.

Changing the caliper is an extension to the changing the brakes procedure. The 'extension' is to disconnect the brake line/hose from the caliper.Next extra step is to bleed the brakes - since the new caliper is going to be full of air when you first hook it up.See "Related Questions" below for more extensive coverage of the procedures...

Changing brakes is simple. Lift the car, remove the tire, remove the brake shoe, remove the old brake pad, replace it with a new brake pad, return the brake shoe, replace the wheel and lower the car.
AnswerThe brake rotor free-floats on the hub assembly. But, you have to remove the brake caliper mounting bracket (2 15mm bolts) from the hub to actually clear the way for it to be removed. See "Related Questions" below for more
It means you should check the level of brake fluid, and /or leaks in the system.

'P'arking or emergency brake
The ABS is for the brake system, BRAKE is for the parking brake, the oil can is for low oil, and the gas light is for low gas. DOOR AJAR means a door is open, the seat belt is for the drivers seat belt, and the engine or CHECK ENGINE is for engine problems.
