The best foods to eat when you have diarrhea are the "BRAT" diet. Bananas, rice, applesauce, and toast. No butter or fats of any kind. Make sure they stay hydrated too. Gatorade or pedialyte to replace the electrolytes. The first relief is to treat the cause of the diarrhea. Pedialite or an electrolyte drink is recommended because in diarrhea one loses important electrolytes. Plain yogurt works well because it is easy to digest and helps to build the immune sysrtem in the intestinal tract where 80% of the immune system is in the intestional tract. This is why one needs to treat the cause of the diarrhea. Also Acidosophilis milk builds the immune system in the intestines. Ripe bananas are easy to digest and contribute important potassium that is lost in diarrhea. Applesauce has pectin which helps the diarrhea. The baby's area around the rectum need to be protected and buttocks need to be protected to prevent breakdown. Any salve, ointment or oil will coat the baby's buttocks as long as it is free of fragerance. Even cooking shortening or vaseline willl work. There are over the conter ointments like Desitin, Triple A ointment too.
Any food you want to - hot peppers are especially fun to watch, and you can tell right away if its the 'im hungry/thirsty/tired cry', or the 'i have a suprise for you - it's in my diaper, and it's not a toaster cry'.
Only Pepto-Bismol and crackers.
Apples (as well as apple juice and applesauce) are supposed to be good for diarrhea as well. The pectin in them apparently acts as a natural anti-diarrheal medicine. Raw apples are also good for the opposite problem (constipation) as they have lots of fiber.
The first day you should only give the pedialyte. If they seen better add saltines, and then the second or third day you should give them plain cherrios, saltines, and pedialyte. DO NOT GIVE THEM DAIRY! I gave mine dairy after 4 days and it was still bad. Stick to plain cherrios, saltines, and pedialyte until everything is cleared up. Trust me. And for my cream mix together Vaseline and corn starch!
Bananas and Cheerios work great. Avoid dairy and fruits with acid.
i think Popsicles would be could or something like rice because you cant get even worse food poisoning if u eat something that isn't raw and carried bacteria

Yes, it can. If you're a junkie it might if you go vegan. I am a vegetarian and eat pretty much only fruits and vegetables. But I highly suggest you DO start eating fruits and vegetables, even if you do have diarrhea. It will stop after a while, and it will do your body so much good to eat natural foods. Or you might have fructose malabsorption, in which case you should limit your fruit intake to avoid diarrhea.
