What should be done to stop immigration problem?

This is a matter of opinion, but I believe that if we made third world countries more liveable by taking on an imperialist complex and building roads, schools, and hospitals. If they had basic needs met, and we could ensure that the government is stable, we could eventually bring American companies to invest in the cheap labor- thus providing jobs and a stable economy

Another perspective:The way to stop the Immigration problem is to enforce the law. There are many laws that are not being enforced that are on the books. Enforce the laws on businesses that hire illegals without following the proper legal procedures. Make it the same fine and punishment to hire illegal aliens off the street corner as it is to pick up a prostitute. Make it the death penalty, for any illegal alien that murders or brutally rape's a citizen in the United States. Make it a regulation that lethal force should be used along the borders, in order to protect our Border Officers from being wounded, murdered or have charges brought against them for protecting themselves. Make it a regulation that any illegal immigrant that is caught in the United States has all money property and accounts in the United States frozen and or confiscated if it is found that they are indeed illegal. As with any thing in human life if the consequences are enforced and publicized, less and less people will break them. Another perspective (a more modest proposal):Perhaps a combination of nation building and enforcement of laws at home are the answer. If "home" is an attractive place to be, there is no reason to leave it. However, the US was built on immigration, so the process of immigration and naturalization must be more efficacious.

The laws we currently have in place are sufficient to prevent the flood of illegal immigration, provided the laws are enforced. This means that those who enforce the laws must have sufficient resources to do so. This is currently just not the case. Draconian rules are not the answer. Such knee jerk reactions are what lead to other conflictual issues.

In a nutshell, fix what is broken.
