Antibiotics kill bacteria. The human gut has over 100,000 species of bacteria, some good and some bad. The good bacteria are necessary to digest food. Where do they come from? Think about it - probably they enter your gut when you eat foods that the bacteria digest - they hitchike in on these foods. That would explain why feeding a vegetarian meat can make her sick - she has lost the ability to digest the meat. So after you take antibiotics, it may help to eat lightly cooked or raw foods which will being their own digestive bacteria.
The more interesting question is - what happens to the poor lining of your gut while you are taking antibiotics - when your gut is filling up with dying bacteria and is unable to move this stuff out or to efficiently digest the food you are dumping into it - my advice is to clean yourself out before you start the course of antibiotics and then eat very easy, moderate fiber, highly digestible foods (like fruits) while you are on antibiotics. After all, most of us will die from our guts out - sure it will look like a heart attack, but it will be a heart weakened by starvation as a result of the dying gut. VIVA LA GUT!
Some antibiotics you must not ingest alcohol whilst taking them -i.e during the course of the antibiotics. However specific dietary restrictions are not necessary. Sometimes eating live natural yoghurt is encouraged since using antibiotics can result in oral thrush - the live yoghurt is supposed to help prevent this.
Usually foods that are not advisable to eat are alkaline foods like dairy products and the like. Acidic foods such as citrus foods and those high in vitamin C are best for ones that have urinary tract infection. Also carbonated drinks and drinks with caffeine should be avoided.
There is no food to avoid with amoxicillin but it doesn't apply with all antibiotics so please consult your doctor.
Being that the antibotics may remove all the good bacteria in your stomach, it's best to eat yogurt to help replace that. If you do not, you could have diarrhea.
It is different from an antibiotic to another. Some shouldn't be taken with any food, and for the others, it doesn't matter.
