It really all depends on how old everyone involved is. There is nothing wrong with seeing if he's interested. I'm talking about 18 and older people. This is sometimes a taboo subject because then friendships and families are dragged into the problems of a relationship. Now your sister will be a good gauge on what you should do. Ask her if she has any issues with you seeking out the brother. If she does than respect her wishes and move on. She should not have to compromise her friendship because of your crush. The fact remains that a crush is only one sided most of the time because the other person doesnt know that you have the crush on them. If you have heard that he has an interest than thats different but if not weigh the pro's and con's of the situation and make the best decision for all involved.

Wow! That sounds almost as complex as my problem! Anyway I'd start by talking to your sister about it and seeing if it makes her uncomfortable. Getting family members mad at each other is not a good idea. Then it depends on how well you know him and how you really feel.
