Kudos to these answers! He must be shown respect and encouragement because otherwise he may be faced with a confusing stigma and unclear of who he is or may want to be! Just love him and go with it and more important back him up if people are cruel to him! There is nothing wrong at all with it! I wish at times I could wear them!

Some boys go through this sort of thing believe it or not (if they are below puberty age.) I remember when I was growing up in the 50s and poodle skirts were in style, my mom would make them and use my 8 year old brother to fit the skirt onto. He would only do it if he could twirl around in my skirt! LOL If one of his friends caught him doing this, my brother would have sunk into the ground never to return. When he was bad, my mom would threaten to make him go to bed with one of my nightgowns on and he had a fit and behaved himself. So, one never knows.
I do suggest you get your son to a psychologist so he can come to some professional assessment of him. It may not be anything, but if it is, then you should know as soon as possible. Although a frightening prospect for parents, it's not the end of the world, and it's "knowing" that is more important so that you can handle it. Just in case you haven't had time to think along these lines, what is more important in your life is the fact your son is healthy and alive, and no matter what his sexual preference is in the future, it doesn't change one single thing of the goodness inside of him.
Good luck Marcy
Answer
Encourage him. Respect his fashion preference. It's easy to follow the crowd, but takes courage to do something different. And high heels have been worn by men as well, especially in the past, so they are not necessarily women's shoes. I think a son like that should be admired.
