What should you do with a three-month-old pregnant bunny rabbit and will it be alright? In: Pet Rabbits |
[Edit] |
Pregnant bunnies
Probably not. Rabbits reach sexual maturity at 12-13 weeks, a little later for larger breeds. In the somewhat unlikely event your rabbit is definitely pregnant at 3 months (which is 12 weeks), she will not really be prepared to deal with this. Even if she and the litter survives, you may need to hand raise the kits or they might all be dead. If you have to hand feed, feed about 2 times per day (nighttime is when most rabbits feed) and use kitten formula as it is closest to rabbit milk.
More input from FAQ Farmers:
- Depending on if your bunny is a domestic or wild rabbit. You should take the bunny to the vet. Termination of the babies may be possible by spaying the bunny, if the fetus are young enough. A wild bunny should be taken to a wild life perserve for treatment.
