I just did my 2005 Ford Escape front brakes and the caliper was 7mm Allen and main holder is 18mm ...RRR Wis.'
The front calipers for a 2006 2007 2008 Ford Escape are a 9mm hex key, and the back calipers are 8mm. I am pretty sure that some a--hole at Ford did this so that u would have to take your vehicle to them to get your brakes done. The back rotors can NOT be turned as they cheaped out at the factory and put rotors on their escapes that are only a few mils above tolerance so that when you have to change out your brakes you have to dig deep and spend around $1200 to get your pads and rotors changed. If you are in the States, www.rockauto.com has the best price for replacement parts, around $250, if you are in Canada go to Parts Unlimited and you can do all 4 wheels for about $400. You will however need a wheel nut socket set that can be rented for free at Parts Source, or you will need a 32mm or 34 mm deep socket DirtyHarry , Calgary
Well, I just did a 2005 escape 4wd.. and the front looks like a 9mm but the back was definitely a mm

Either the caliper piston is frozen stuck or the hydraulic brake hose has collapsed internally. Open the bleeder on that caliper and see if the pressure releases, if it does you have a bad brake hose.
In most Fords the rotor will come off when you unbolt the brake caliper.
Bleeder screws would be on the bottom of caliper-making complete air evacuation either difficult or impossible resulting in a spongy pedal
If it has come out completely, lubricate the disc brake piston and the piston bore (in the caliper) with clean brake fluid. Make sure the dust boot is clean and is seated in the caliper. Using a turning motion (back & forth), roll the lip of the dust boot over the piston and push the piston into the caliper by hand as far as you can go. You'll need a c-clamp and a block of wood (or an old brake pad) so that you can push the piston all the way into the bore. Go slowly as you are pushing and keep an eye on the piston so that it goes in straight with no resistance. You don't want to damage the sides of the piston. If the piston goes to the bottom with no problem, seat the dust boot lip into the piston groove. You'll have to bleed the brakes once the pads are in and the caliper is reinstalled.
18mm
On a 2006 Ford Escape : The brake fluid reservoir is also the clutch fluid reservoir
use q wrench
The calipers need a 7 mm hex wrench. The Caliper holder to remove the rotors takes an 18mm socket. This is a 2003 Ford escape..apparently it's the same as a Mazda tribute.

Lift the car on the car jack, remove the tire, remove the brake shoe/caliper, remove the brake pad. Put in the new brake pad, replace the brake shoe/caliper, put the tire back on the car, and lower the car to the ground.
