According to the website mentioned in the Related Links, the rule of thumb is to pick a bird that weighs 2 pounds more than the number of people you are feeding, e.g., a 10-lb turkey would feed 8 people; and a 15-lb turkey would feed 13.
A 9 pound turkey will feed about 9 people. 1 pound of turkey should be cooked for each person that is eating.
If there is 8 adults eating, an 8 pound turkey is needed. There should be at least 1 pound of turkey for each person.
If these 11 people are hearty eaters, you better go with at least a 20 pounder, more likely to 25 pounds.
18 pounds (1.5 lbs per person)

One pound of turkey should be cooked for each person eating. A turkey that will feed 10-14 people should weigh around 10-14 people.
At 1/2 pound of turkey each; 15 x 1/2= 7.5 pounds of meat, x roughly 1.5 for bones, a 10 pounder should theoretically do fine, but 15 pounds would be better, in case you have a bunch of white-meat lovers, or something.
A standard oven would work. Turkeys range from 3-35 pounds, you should estimate about one and a half to two pounds per person. My family has a 18-22 pound turkey for about 12-14 people with some leftovers.

I just read on this site that the rule of thumb is 2 persons less than the number of pounds of turkey. As an example a 14 lb Turkey should feed 12 people. To verify this answer enter the question: How many people will a 15 lb turkey feed. GMac
