W.E.B. Du Bois
Basic research (pure or fundamental research) is inquiry aimed at increasing scientific knowledge. It is completely theoretical, that focus on basic principles and testing theories. In basic research we add some knowledge to the existing one. And also basic research deals with generalization and formulation of theory about human behaviour. Applied research aimed at using basic research for solving problems or developing new process, product or techniques. And also in applied research we try to find out solutions to the problem at hand. It can be applied to real life situations. Such studies particular set of circumstances, so as to related the result to its equal circumstances.
Basic research discovers new natural phenomena, not previously known before. As all technology is based on knowledge of natural phenomena, technology will eventually stagnate and halt its development without basic research.

theoretical approach
research is of two types, 1-BASIC RESEARCH = it is the new work in science not done by any one before. 2-APPLIED RESEARCH = type of research already existed in practise ,purpose is just to re vice it.
Sociologist Robin Williams Jr. created a list of basic values known as "American values," which included achievement and success, individualism, progress, efficiency, and equality.
The objective of basic research is to
Similarities between pure and applied research
Pure basic research is looking for information on the internet or in books. This research is simply just looking for what is already out there.
Research design is the basic stone of a research.

The three basic types of research used in psychology are descriptive research, correlational research, and experimental research. Descriptive research aims to observe and describe behavior, correlational research examines the relationship between variables, and experimental research involves manipulating variables to determine cause and effect.
Basic Research is carried out for the sake of increasing knowledge, such as how and why a specific reaction occurs and what the properties of a substance are. Applied research is generally carried out to solve a problem.
Applied Research

it is one of the 9 basic method in research
Casual-comparative research method is a type of research design that involves examining the relationship between variables without manipulating them. It aims to determine if there is a cause-and-effect relationship between the variables being studied. This method is also known as quasi-experimental research.
