It depends on your vocal range and age. I don't suggest popular music because the judges have something to compare you to that is recent. Also, try to stick with songs from musicals or classic songs from before the 90s. Also, don't sing a song that fifty other people are singing (A good example of this is 'God Blessed the Broken Road' by Rascal Flatts. I cannot tell you how many times in my choir class that kids pick this as their solo.) Do something that not everybody else is doing.
