A desert because it needs the heat in able for it to grow.

There are many places on the planet where cacti grow, not all of them are extremely hot, but all of them are very dry climates.

Normally, a cactus will thrive in a hot and dry environment, but can be found in humid areas also.

It depends on what type of cactus you are talking about. Prickly pair cactus's are found in Sunny climates and bloom in the rain. Saguaro cactus's are in hot climates such as Arizona.

im not an expert..but everywhere i 've lived,i have had cactus..but most seem to like dry rocky areas ...hot days cold nights
