the spanish rebels stormed parliament and took the govenor of spain hostage. i dont know if they think this as a special day but thats what happend on 23rd feb 1981.

On February 23, 1981 in Spain, the Spanish government suffered a coup now referred to as 23-F or El Tejerazo from the name of the most visible figure in the affair, Antonio Tejero, who stormed (according to Wikipedia's article) "into the Spanish Congress of Deputies with a group of 200 armed Guardia Civil agents during the process of electing Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo as the new Prime Minister."
