Photographers take photographs. They could be portraits, landscapes, photojournalism, fine art, etc. In order to earn money;photographers must sell their photos, so they work in sales, too. Also when they aren't at work they still do work like retouch pictures, or talk to new clients about setting up a shoot, or even just hang out. Besides the ones already mentioned above there are all kinds of other Specialisations Photographers can specialise themselfs in, to name a few; Fashion Photography, Advertising Photography, Medical Photography, Industrial Photography or Photographing Homes and Buildings for real estate Companies for example.

A camera and an interest in or passion for the art :) Nothing more is needed because i believe whether or not a piece is liked to be subjective to the viewer.

Technically, anything can be learned but these days its very easy to get started in digital photography, otherwise, your question is slightly ambiguous!

There are two ways you can go about getting skills in photography. You can get an associate degree at a community college or a Bachelor's degree from a university. From what I hear, you don't really need a degree at all. You can start out at one of those ameteur photography studios and learn the skills that way. Lots of people are free lance photographers, but you would have to provide your own cameras, film, etc. A good way to get some experience is to volenteer your services at your friend's or families weddings or parties.

That would depend on the type of photography being undertaken.

Let's say the person is a wedding photographer.

They might have to 1)answer emails or phone calls from potential wedding photography clients, 2)create new prints for their portfolio, 3)research new shooting locations for wedding photography and much more.
