Massachusetts, which has ranked No. 1 on their New Economy Index the last five years it was produced, is well-positioned because of its many software, hardware and biotechnology firms, and highly competitive universities such as Harvard and MIT that churn out talented grads who can support their growth, according to the report.
However, according to the United States Bureau of Economic Analysis, the top three states with the highest gross state product are California ($1.85 trillion), Texas ($1.22 trillion) and New York ($$1.14 trillion). The figures are for 2008.
