There are many histoical events within the movie such as: The US Presidents, the Viet Nam War, the opening of relations to mainland China, civil rights activism, the computer age. All of these are historical facts. Actor Tom Hanks would not accept the role of Gump unless the historical events were accurate.

∙ 12y agoMy high school English teacher was a cheerleader for utk when Forest Gump played football for Al. She got the oppertunity to meet the man and tell us students about his athletic ability. I believe her story to be true due to the fact that she told us about him before the second movie was ever produced.
