B12 injections are given IM (in the muscle) . . . typically a 3cc, 23 or 25 guage x 1" needle would be used . . . Do not use an insulin syringe (too small) you may not be getting all the benefits of your treatment doing it this way.

∙ 14y agoYour doctor should be able to provide you with not only the materials to perform this task, but with the guidance necessary to perform it safetly. Failing to perform an IM injection can lead to infection and/or ulceration at the injection site. Please contact your healthcare provider.

The only thing the B12 injection does is give you energy when you are not eating a lot of calories. There is only one way to lose weight. Expend more calories than you take in.
Is it legal to give a B12 injection without an doctor's order?
Yes, you do need to obtain a prescription from your doctor to get Vitamin B12. He/She will also need to make sure they write you a prescription for the syringes as well. I have personally written a prescription like this one many times.
Is it ok to take B12 tablets?
Very few people are ever deficient in B12. a vitamin that occurs in meat, milk and other dairy product (such as eggs). Unless you are on a vegan diet, there should be no reason for you to be deficient in B12, and taking a B12 supplement will probably not prove beneficial. Consult your GP/family doctor before starting a B12 supplement. (Added note) People suffering from Chronic Anaemia cannot absorb vitamin B12 from their food, and B12 tablets are of no use. They need to have a B12 injection every 3 months.

b12 is water soluble so it should be out of your system fairly quickly.... but I would guage it on the amount of your fatigue. when u get tired its gone.
