In the UK The Beatles first appeared on a regional TV show in Manchester, Granada TV's "People and Places", on 17 October 1962; they sang "Love Me Do" and "Ooh! My Soul". Their first national TV appearance was on "Thank Your Lucky Stars". This was a very significant event in the band's history as it was on during a very severe winter - which meant a larger than usual audience as people couldn't go out. The first show the Beatles appeared on in the United States was the Ed Sullivan Show.

They appeared and/or performed on television programs around 50 times, mainly from 1963-1965 at the height of Beatlemania. Notable appearances include their first American television appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 when they first visited the United States and they appeared on there quite a few times.

Feb.12 of 1964. That was their first American TV performance. The Beatles performed a total of 4 times on The Ed Sullivan Show.
