101.5 in a still air incubator

99.5 in a forced air incubator

Also important

For the first 18 days the humidity should be 50%-60%ish and the eggs should be turned an odd number of times, at least three.

For the last three days the humidity should be about 65%-70%, and the eggs should not be turned.

Goose Egg Incubation

Day 1-26

Temperature 99.5 (forced air incubator)

Temperature 102.9 (still air incubator)

Humidity 86

Turns/day 3-7 each night leave on a different side than the night before,

Each Day remove the eggs from the incubator, allow 15 mins to cool, spray with water (or pour water over them), and return to incubator.

Goose Egg Hatching

Day 27-34

Temperature 98.5 (forced air incubator)

Temperature 101.9 (still air incubator)

Humidity 94

Turns per day 0

Be patient, goslings take about 48 hours to hatch (from first pip to fluff ball) ...longer than chickens!

The incubator temperature needs to be 99.5. Another very important factor to consider is the humidity. Make sure the incubator has a hygrometer which measures the humidity inside. While the eggs are incubating, the hygrometer should read 82-86 humidity. A couple of days before the eggs are to hatch, increase the humidity to 88-90. This can be done by adding another bowl of water inside the incubator. Your incubator should come with instructions on how to do this. The humidity is very important as the chicks have a better chance of hatching out of a moist egg rather than a drier one. Keep in mind also that it is important to make sure the chicks have dried completely before moving them out of the incubator. They can get the pneumonia & die very quickly if they get chilled. After moving the chicks out of the incubator, it's important to keep them warm and no breeze. Temp needs to be 90. If they get too hot, they will move away from the heat lamp and perhaps begin to pant. If they are too cold, they will pile up on top of each other possibly killing some underneath.

This really depends on what kind of eggs are being incubated. For goose eggs it is 99.5 degrees F. For chickens it is 100 degrees F. If the fertilized eggs are kept at the right temperature, are turned, and have the correct amount of humidity, you should be ablle to hatch healthy chicks.

Can you hatch chicks without an incubator?

If you have obtained fertilized eggs, they can be sucessfully incubated, but the chicks MUST be kept warm after hatching. Recommended temperature after hatching is 95-99 degrees F the first week and decrease by 5 degrees each week.

How do you feed baby chicks just hatched from an incubator but their eyes not yet open?

Chicks absorb the yolk before hatching; they have enough nutrients via the yolk to last for 48 hours. DO NOT REMOVE the chicks from the incubator until they are fully dry, and the whole clutch has finished hatching.

What is a topic question for hatching chicks in a science fair?

Gender ratio, rate of viable eggs white vs. brown. Temperature variation vs gender Note Higher temperature (101F) in the incubator will produce less hens and more cockerels).

What chicks need after hatching?

They need rest and warmth. Newly hatched chicks should be left in the incubator for at least 24 hours. They do not need food and as long as the humidity is at 80%within that incubator they will not need water. Chicks should be dry and fluffy before being moved into the brooder box when they will get their first food and water ration.

Why do you need an incubator to hatch eggs?

It's to show how the temperature is the same as the chicken.

How do you build an incubator for chicks?

get a box. get a light bulb. the temperature=99 derees F humidity=50-60

Can chicks survive in cold climates?

Probably not. They need to be born in an incubator and they will have to get used to the normal temperature and that can be a struggle. I wouldn't risk it.

Can you put incubator chicks in with hens?

yes

Can a hen from an incubator have baby chicks?

Yes.

How long do chicks stay in a incubator?

They should be left in the incubator until they are dry, fluffy and active. Do not rush to remove them as opening the incubator will effect the un-hatched and still hatching eggs. This usually takes up to 36 hours and the first hatch chicks will survive quite well without food or water since the humidity in the incubator keeps them hydrated. After 36 hours all unhatched eggs should be candled to verify viability, and the hatched chicks moved to a brooder box.
