A dog's normal body temperature varies between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius (100 -102 degrees Fahrenheit).

To take a dog's temperature,

  • Grease a snub nosed thermometer with vegetable oil.
  • Lift the dog's tail and insert the thermometer slowly about 2.5 cm or 1 inch deep.
  • Hold it in for 30-45 seconds.
  • Take it out slowly, wipe it clean and read the dog's temperature.

101 to a little over 102. I think it's 102.4. Anything over 103 you should call your vet. But just like humans it's not just temp that's important. Is your dog acting normal? Eating and drinking normally? Normal potty breaks? If you're concerned about your dog don't judge when to see a vet by the pup's temp, go by their overall behavior. If they have a fever or an infection you'll notice it from other things in their routine
