What the cause of indecisive?

I believe the cause to be indecisive is simply because we don't know ourselves very well, we carry internal conflict on what I want vs what the others want from me, it is different to say I want chocolate ice cream because I want chocolate ice cream, that is a knowing exactly what you want.

I personally don't agree with the above. I am an indecisive person myself and I think my view should be out there too. I believe i am indecisive because I see so many options and I see how each one could effect every little thing and I have a hard time letting go of things. When I can't choose an ice cream flavor it's because I can see myself enjoying so many of them and I don't want to miss of on an amazing flavor. I'm not even kidding that's what goes through my mind! Not that I don't know myself enough but because I am so open minded to different ideas

In trying to locate the point of my indecisiveness, I find that I have a combination of what the above two remarks specify and something else which I'll get to in a minute. The first response above is true, as I see it, in that if someone has a strong opinion or passion about something, maybe a habit practiced over time because of its workability in one's life or through experience has found some choice to be the best, s/he will be more likely to be decisive - that is, know what s/he wants. The second response has been true for me since I feel open-minded about a number of things and don't know which is the best (yes, wanting the best but wanting to weigh the pros and cons to each life circumstance that can be affected) as in the food store factoring in quality and cost value of a product (simplistic but an example). The third reason, I'll add here, is that if I don't have a specific plan to know which choice will be best, I tend to linger over a decision or don't make it at that time at all until circumstances either force me or come to the time when I realize I need to move forward in my life and thus need to make a decision. The problem comes with discerning what I need vs. want. Financially, I am pretty good at making choices, but my personality is what gets me. Since I can't stand ruts, I want to move forward when I believe I am in one, however I don't want to base my decision on my feelings. So I wait. Then I get upset at my indecision. I pray that God will make the way clear to me as I desire to be in and do His will as I wait (Psalm 27:14). I don't know if it needs to be perfectly clear or whether I should act in faith looking at the open doors as I judge each movement one step at a time. The faith part is hard because I don't know if it is willfulness on my part or a true oepn door. I hope I put the finger on the problem. My comfort is that I can trust God's timing. Now can I get control over my seeming restlessness? Or do I have this personality for a reason????Just some rhetorical questions as I walk indecision's way.
