Any sins you have commited (anything)

Roman Catholic AnswerBefore going into confession you make an examination of conscience where you go over the commandments of God, the commandments of the Church, and the capital vices to help you find out where you have failed since your last confession. It is really helpful to make a short examen at the end of every day and jot this down somewhere private, where no one will see. Then when you have an opportunity for confession, you will have your examen from each day to make up your confession. There are also helpful books, booklets, and numberous sites on the web, I have included one below, to help you make your examen.

So you are confessing where and how you have failed to keep the commandments and virtues. It is important that you only confess your own sins. If you listened to someone else while they were gossiping, you are only going to confess your listening and/or participation - you are NOT confessing what they did.

The important thing to remember is that you are confessing to God, the priest is simply his instrument. Remember also that he can not even change his behavior in any way due to what he may hear in the confessional; also remember that no matter what you confess, the chances are great that he has heard the exact same sins from a dozen people before you and a dozen people after you. Never let anything like that worry you, priests have already hear it all.

What is the room in a church you can confess your sins?

You can confess your sins anywhere - not just in a church. Confession means simply saying that you are sorry to God for the things you have done wrong -either deliberately or unknowingly, and for the good things that you have failed to do. You can do this anywhere - in your own home, on the bus, sitting in a park - anywhere.Roman Catholics, however, regard confession to a priest as customary, and this takes place within a church setting. There is no actual 'room' set aside, although often a small booth is used with the priest sitting on one side of a panel and the confessor on the other, so that privacy and anonymity are guaranteed. This booth is called a confessional.

How does conffesio help you?

Confession directly to God helps you but confession to a catholic priest or whatever the catholics practice does not help you. God made it so that we could come to Him with our sins and ask for forgiveness and if we are really sorry about what we have done, He will forgive us. God also made it possible for us to come to Him directly with our prayers, to ask for things. When we ask or confess things to a priest, we are leaving out God, who is the ONLY one who can actually help and forgive us.
