The new Luna Park (which, as of May 2010, has replaced the old Astroland Park) is open Monday to Friday from noon until midnight, and weekends and holidays from 11 AM to midnight.
Note that these hours apply only to the summer season, from Memorial Day to Labor Day. From Labor Day to Columbus Day, the park is open only on weekends, and it is closed completely during the winter (Columbus Day to Memorial Day).

∙ 12y agoLuna Park is open weekends only from Easter to Memorial Day. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the park is open 7 days a week. It goes back to weekends only from Labor Day to Halloween.
The beach and boardwalk are open all year long, but lifeguards are only on duty from Memorial to Labor Day.

Who made Coney Island?
This name is found on the New Netherland map of 1639 by Johannes Vingboon. Although the names for the island in English and Dutch were similar at this time - both meaning Rabbit Island (Conyne Eylandt; Konijneneiland in modern Dutch spelling and Coney Island is the English adaptation of the Dutch name. It appears the the Dutch immigrants were the first to name the island - well before the Island became a tourist area after the Civil War.
