If switching food is what the vets recommend do a price check for it on-line you should be able to find it cheaper then what it is at the vets office. It's time to take your little dog into the vets. There could many things wrong: Infection Cold Fever Digestive Problems Bowel problems Parasites Of course there are all sorts of diseases, but it probably is just something that antibiotics will resolve. Please don't try home remedies and get your little dog to the vets as soon as possible. THINGS TO TAKE TO THE VET: If you dog has had a bowel movement take a sample of it with a clean popsicle stick or swab of sorts, and insert it into an old pill bottle with the dogs name (your last name) what time the stool sample was taken, the date as well. This will help cut-down on guessing re the vet and can tell a lot by the sample. Be sure to tell the vet the little dog isn't eating, shivering or if the dog is drinking excessive water or not drinking at all. Any information you can give helps and will lower your vet bill costs. Good luck Marcy

I would take him/her to the vet. The shaking and loss of appetite could be causes by a variety of things. One possibility being stress. If you have moved recently, added an addition to your family (human or animal), or are away from home often you pet may have anxiety. The second possibility is that it could be something as simple to fix as a tooth ache. My cat started chewing on one side of his mouth, eating very small portions and vomitting up what he did eat. When we brought him to the vet we realized he had an infection in his gums and teeth. The sensativity of his teeth was causing him enough pain where he lost intrest in eating. When he did eat he would swallow most of it, resulting in regurgitation of the whole food. Another possibility is a stomach or intestinal virus or infection. If your dog is vomitting it may be something entirely different. Vomiting is common with pancreatitis. Depression can be severe. Affected pets may seem restless or be reluctant to move, they may seem weak, shakey, irritable, have diarrhea or simply refuse to eat. As for getting your dog to eat again, you may want to try warming their food. I've heard that the warmth will bring out the smells of the food and may make them more willing to try eating. If this doesn't work you can always try a good home cooked meal. Turkey or chicken, rice and some type of vegitable. (Make sure nothing you give him/her contains onions as they are poisonous to dogs!)

You should take your dog to a veterinarian immediately - this could be seizures, or a severe infection that is killing your dog.
